Catherine Silcock is a speech pathology clinician who is passionate about communication development and equally passionate about diversity. Join this talk to put your feet on the ground about language development, when to support difficulties and when to embrace difference.
Able language users use a complex communication skill set every day. We use it in listening, talking, reading, writing and other ways of sharing information and meaning. How DO we build this extraordinary capacity? What does normal language development look like? How many versions of ‘typical’ are there? Is communication also a domain where we need to understand diversity?
Come and find out more about language learning, what’s working, what isn’t. When does your child need help? What’s there to know about individual difference?
