The Office of the Education Registrar facilitates the voluntary participation of home educated students in the NAPLAN assessment program.
If you would like your home educated student/s to participate in these assessments in 2021, you are invited to register with our Office so that we can provide you with the NAPLAN test papers relevant to your child’s age (see table below).
Please find below information provided to us from the Australian Government in relation to the NAPLAN program:
In 2008, the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) commenced in Australian schools. The program continues in 2019 with all children in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 or ages appropriate to these years (see Table 1) being assessed using common national tests in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar, and punctuation) and Numeracy. NAPLAN 2019 assessments will be paper-based as in previous years.
These literacy and numeracy tests form a key part of the National Assessment Program endorsed by all Australian Ministers for Education.
Parent reports on student progress will provide information on your child’s/children’s performance in the areas tested.
Children undertaking tests in the home environment will receive the test booklets from the Office of the Education Registrar in the week beginning Monday, 17 May 2021. All tests should be sent to the address provided with the test materials by Friday, 21 May 2021.
If you would like your child/ren to participate, please complete the attached registration form as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, 26 March 2021 and return via email to: registrar@oer.tas.gov.au
