June Newsletter 2022
Registrar's Welcome
Hello Everyone
With the beginning of winter upon us, I hope you are all staying comfortable and warm while enjoying the brisk change of seasons.
Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your trust and patience over the last few months as we continue to manage an enormous influx of new home education applications. I greatly appreciate your understanding and adaptability to the temporary changes in our practices regarding renewing registrations and registration visit time frames. I can assure you that while we have received an unprecedented rise in home education applications the priority for our organisation is to always to ensure that the quality of our processes and service to you remains.
We have witnessed significant change within the political sphere over the last few months as we welcome a new Premier of Tasmania Hon. Jeremy Rockliff and our new Minister for Education Hon. Roger Jaensch. I wish them both the best in their new roles.
Warm regards
Katharine
Home Education Registration Visits
A Resource for Home Educators: Understanding the Standards
It is with much pleasure that I announce the release of a new resource for home educators – Understanding the Standards.
This resource has been created to demystify the meaning of each Registration Standard and to help home educators understand the kinds of information that could be provided within a Home Education Summary and Program (HESP). For some of you, this resource may simply be a confirmation of what you already know, and for others who are relatively new to home education, assist with the writing of your next HESP and to support you in bringing this information together.
This has been a collaborative effort from some of our Registration Officers. Each have made a generous contribution from their expertise in home education, much of which has been gathered from visiting our home educating families.
A PDF version will also be available on our website. We will also provide you with a printed copy when you are next contacted to provide an updated HESP for your child.
I really hope that you find this a valuable resource to your HESP writing - please click on the below PDF flyer to view in full.
Warm regards
Katharine O'Donnell
