Home Education Processing Delays
Home Education Processing Delays

Hello Everyone,
I hope this message finds you well.
I would like to inform you that our office is currently experiencing a change in administration staff in the South, which is affecting our ability to process home education applications. We have a new staff member starting next Monday, and it will take a couple of weeks for her to get up to speed. Additionally, another staff member will be joining us within the next four weeks.
We may also be behind in providing you with a letter reminder that a new HESP is due. If your renewal period is close to finishing or has passed, we will provide you with additional time to submit your renewal HESP. I am very sorry that we have not been able to provide this reminder to you to send it in.
In the meantime, I am providing support to my team to ensure we manage as best as possible. If you have any concerns about your registration, please do not hesitate to call or email us, and we will try to respond as soon as possible.
Contact Information:
- Phone: 03 6777 2548 or 6165 5414
- Email: registrar@oer.tas.gov.au
Please be assured that we have processes in place to prioritise registration renewals. If you are close to your expiry date or a visit cannot be arranged before the expiry, we will roll you over onto provisional registration until the visit is carried out. This means that you will still be registered. If you need evidence of current registration for Centrelink purposes, please contact us, and we will provide you with the appropriate documentation.
However, this also means that visit arrangements for provisional registrations will be delayed for the southern area. We will be in contact as soon as we are able to schedule a visit for you.
As you can imagine the start of 2025 has been challenging, with a large number of new applications and several staff changes. However, my small team has been fabulous, and we are supporting each other during this time.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during this transition period.
Best regards,
Jo Spencer
